Metropolis of Lyon and Triangle Region - The beginning of great story

Following up our mission to France in June 19, FACCC supported its member Research Triangle Regional Partnership (RTRP) in the organization of a full week of contact in Auvergne Rhone Alpes in October 2019. With 100+ contacts, 5 cities visited, meetings with Biotech, Automotive, Micro Nano Tech clusters, and an amazing reception with Alexandre Mérieux, this mission was a great success.

North Carolina and Auvergne Rhône Alpes have a lot in common. Same size, same population, same key sectors... same comparable Metropolitan areas: Raleigh / Durham / Chapel Hill and Lyon.

And we discovered that the more we learn about each over, the better are the chances to discover and exploit these similarities.

In partnership with EDPNC, NC Biotech Center and Wake County Economic Development, we decided to work on 3 areas of collaboration metro-to-metro:

  • Becoming reciprocal springboard for key regional industries (Biotech, Digital, CleanTech, Advanced Manufacturing)
  • Facilitating matchmaking and referrals for companies looking for export markets
  • Exchanging through expertise, innovation, and technology.

We believe in our success built on a human-based relationship, and great facilitators as bioMérieux for example.

Our goal is to demonstrate that we are on a right track by building up our relationships and implementing concrete actions: organization of events together, having delegations from Lyon in the Triangle and vice-versa, reciprocal partnerships between clusters, between incubators...

Stay tuned to follow the results of our next steps!
